How To Make The Best Diabetic-friendly Spinach Smoothie (Green)

Ingredients And Why :

Spinach : Why ? Spinach is a non-starchy veggie, a rich source of fiber , a low-glycemic index food , low in carbohydrate and super-low in calories ! What else !

Avocado : Avocados are low in carbohydrates, good source of fiber and has a low glycemic index of 15 which means they have little effect on blood sugar levels. Also they are loaded with healthy fats (feel full longer) therefore they may help with weight loss and improve insulin sensitivity .

Additionally, avocado provides a creamy texture to smoothies without adding too many extra calories.

Almond butter : Diabetics can consume almond butter. It has little carbs but a lot of fiber, healthy fats (like monounsaturated fat ) , and protein. And this aids in controlling the after-meal spike in blood sugar and insulin levels.

Unsweetened Almond Milk :  This creamy dairy alternative is a more secure and healthy milk alternative to dairy milk. Almond milk is low in calories which making it an excellent choices for diabetics.

Unsweetened Soy Yogurt : Yogurt made from soy has healthful, unsaturated fats and has protein levels comparable to those of yogurt made from cow’s milk. Additionally, soy products have been found in trials to lower blood sugar and cholesterol, particularly in diabetics.

Are Spinach Smoothies Good For Diabetics ?

Yes ! But it Depends ! 

Yes , spinach smoothie is good for diabetics because spinach has low carbohydrate content (1 cup of raw spinach has only 1 gram (g) of carbohydrates ) , has a low glycemic index , is rich source of fiber ( Soluble Fiber) ,  and packed with antioxidants such as vitamin A (94 percent of the daily value, or DV) .

Also Due to its soluble fiber spinach doesn’t cause spikes in blood sugar levels and helps to control diabetes .

Additionally, spinach is low in calories which is important for diabetics. For example 1 cup of raw spinach has only 7 calories .
